Acoustic panels: when sound absorption becomes part of the interior design concept

In many projects, acoustics only receive attention once the space is complete. Yet an acoustic panel can be much more than a noise-reduction element added afterwards: its form, rhythm, colour and position can be planned as part of the interior design concept from the outset.

In offices, meeting rooms, educational and communal spaces with large, hard surfaces, controlling reverberation is a technical issue, but the solution can also become an architectural tool. Designers therefore need to consider both sound absorption performance and the geometric and material freedom that a technology offers.

Understanding manufacturing possibilities can open up new directions. Bespoke sizes, three-dimensional or patterned elements, and wall and ceiling compositions can be developed so that technical performance and aesthetic intent reinforce one another.

FORMARCH’s role in this process is to connect the designer’s idea with manufacturing expertise. We explore which acoustic solution best fits the concept, rather than trying to fit a ready-made product into the space.
